Girlfriends and Greating Cards
|
|
We like to think that great composers find inspiration in beauty, love, nature, spirituality. But sometimes the muse points them to a different source. When it comes to Robert Schumann's Abegg Variations and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's "Greeting Cards", they used the names of people to create their melodies.
Schumann's Abegg Variations are based on the notes A-B-E-G-G, the surname of Meta Abegg, at the time, the object of his affections.
Castelnuovo-Tedesco's "Greeting Cards", of which the "Tonadilla en el nombre de Andres Segovia" is the most famous, were created by assigning each letter of a person's name to a musical alphabet.
YourMusicName is based on the same idea.
We hope you enjoy hearing your name in music.
